So it's been a while.

Yes, I know, it has been a few months since I last posted. I apologize. I actually want to take a slightly new direction though. Recently, a close friend of mine interviewed me for a paper he had to write for class. Some of the questions really made me dive deep into my roots and realize that even though I like to think that I am Czech, I feel so separated from my heritage and I should reconnect with it.
One thing that the Czechs are really well known for is beer. But, that's not what I'm here to talk about.
I also just got a new phone so posts will be easier to write on the spot, etc.
What I really want to focus on now is Czech cooking and baking. This next month I will be home and have plenty of opportunity to cook all day and everyday. I can't promise to write a post everyday because I can't promise to cook something Czech everyday, but I will do my best to share what I learn and make either way. Then in August, I am flying to the Czech Republic and will have any and every opportunity to cook stuff there and show how we eat there. I want to show the supermarkets, the restaurants, the bars (into which I can finally go, well I could before but I haven't been there really since I turned 18), how we cook at home, and how families cook and interact.
I want this blog to turn into something where you see real people smiling and consuming good food.
Hope to see you all when I restart blogging next week. :)

Swans are tough.

So I realize that I've been quite neglectful. I apologize dearly, but now I am home and don't have classes to focus on and can give you my full attention. Kind of. Well, last night I was feeling a little down and really wanted to make something. I ended up making some yummy cream puffs. I was a little worried at first when I saw the recipe because I didn't expect the cream puffs to be made that way, but I went for it and it actually worked. Baking them kind of worried me as well because I baked them for the first 20 minutes as I was supposed to and I initially thought that you are supposed to take them out after those 20 minutes and so I checked them and they didn't seem finished and then I went back to the recipe and reread it and noticed that I'm supposed to lower the temperature and bake the puffs for another 20 minutes which eased my worries.

Oopsie daisy....

I understand that I have been neglecting the blog lately. And going back on my promise that I made a month ago where I would blog daily. I have good reason for it! Really!

Supermarkets!!!!

So here's a short post about shopping and how to buy ingredients. I've been really tired lately and haven't been getting much sleep so I need to take a break now. Especially with finals coming up. Hopefully when I get a little more sleep my posting will be back in action. For now please bear with me. :)

Coming soon to a supermarket near you: THE DIRTY DOZEN

The Dirty Dozen is an American war film from 1967 directed by Robert Aldrich that takes place in England during the spring of 1944, when the Allied Forces are preparing for the D-Day invasion.
Fast forward 43 years, and you'll find a remake of 1967's #1 film moneymaker.

Will it grow a tail?

Yes, well. That's a good question. *WILL* it grow a tail? It may or may not. It's kind of unsure and not known. What is known is that it is sweet and delicious.
